현시대 복잡성의 좌표를 그리는 시도, 제15회 광주비엔날레가 《판소리, 모두의 울림》(Pansori, a soundscape of the 21st Century)을 제목으로 오는 9월 7일부터 12월 1일까지 광주비엔날레전시관 등 광주광역시 일원에서 열립니다. 이번 전시는 인류세, 기후 위기 등 미래지향적인 공간 재조직을 화두로 삼고 있습니다. 《판소리, 모두의 울림》이 갖고 있는 의미에 맞춰 전시는 음악과 시각적 형식을 연결하는 서사로 구성됩니다. 개인의 거처부터 인간이 점령한 지구 전역에 이르기까지, 우리가 살아가는 공간에 대한 모습을 드러냅니다.

The 15th Gwangju Biennale, titled Pansori, a soundscape of the 21st century, will be held in Gwangju from September 7 to December 1, 2024. The Biennale attempts to map the coordinates of contemporary complexity, focusing on the Anthropocene, climate crisis, and the reorganization of space for the future. In keeping with the theme of Pansori, a soundscape of the 21st century, the exhibition will be built as a narrative that links music and visual forms. From personal homes to the entirety of our human-occupied planet, it seeks to reveal the shape of the spaces we live in.

'여러 사람이 모인 곳'을 의미하는 '판'과 '소리'의 합성어인 판소리는 공간의 관계를 상징하는 한국만의 고유한 음악으로서 '대중의 소리' 라는 의미를 담고 있습니다. 이러한 판소리의 정신을 이어받아 제15회 광주비엔날레는 우리 주위의 살아 있는 형상들과의 대화를 통해 동시대 공간을 탐구하는 전세계 70여명의 작가를 선보입니다. 《판소리, 모두의 울림》 이들이 만들어내는 지금껏 느낀 적 없는 새로운 울림을 2024년 9월 광주에서 만나보세요.

The term 'pansori' is derived from the Korean words ‘pan,’ meaning “a place where many people gather,” and ‘sori’ meaning "sound." This unique Korean music genre symbolizes the relationship between sound and space, embodying the meaning of ‘the voice of the people.’ The 15th Gwangju Biennale intends to recreate the original spirit of 'pansori,' presenting over 70 artists who explore contemporary space through dialogue with the living forms around them.

30여개 파빌리온에서 다양한 네트워크의 장 열려

Over 30 pavilions to expand art and cultural networking opportunities

광주비엔날레 파빌리온은 국내외 미술 및 문화 기관의 네트워크 확장을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 2024년에는 국가, 도시, 기관 등 다양한 창의적 예술주체가 참여하며 양림동과 동명동 일대를 비롯한 광주 전역에 30여개 파빌리온이 자리 잡습니다. 《판소리, 모두의 울림》(Pansori, a soundscape of the 21st century)과 공명하면서도 다른 각도의 시선을 보여줄 수 있는 특색 있는 전시를 구축함으로써 풍부한 볼거리와 담론을 생산합니다.

The Gwangju Biennale Pavilion seeks to expand the network of art and cultural institutions in Korea and abroad. In 2024, creative entities from over 30 countries, cities and institutions will be participating in pavilions across Gwangju, including Yangnim-dong and Dongmyeong-dong areas. The Gwangju Biennale Pavilion will feature unique exhibitions that resonate with the main exhibition of the 15th Gwangju Biennale, Pansori, a soundscape of the 21st century, and showcase different perspectives, thus providing a wealth of experiences as well as discourse in contemporary art.

제15회 광주비엔날레 홍보대사에 K-pop 글로벌 아티스트 멤버로 구성된 NCT WISH가 선정되었습니다. NCT WISH가 홍보대사로 활동하며 MZ세대에게 큰 반향을 불러올 것을 기대됩니다. NCT WISH는 “제15회 광주비엔날레 홍보대사로 선정되어 기쁘다. 홍보대사로서 광주비엔날레를 전 세계의 더 많은 분들에게 알리기 위해 노력하겠다”라고 전했습니다.

Global K-pop artist group, NCT WISH, has been selected as ambassadors for the 15th Gwangju Biennale. As ambassadors, NCT WISH is expected to resonate with the MZ generation. NCT WISH said, “We are happy to be selected as ambassadors for the 15th Gwangju Biennale. As ambassadors, we will endeavor to make the Gwangju Biennale known to more people around the world.”
