The 15th edition of the Gwangju Biennale next year will feature the largest-ever Gwangju Biennale Pavilion. The Gwangju Biennale Pavilion presents a diverse array of artworks from around the world, facilitated by premier cultural institutions. 2024 also marks the 30th anniversary of the inception of the Gwangju Biennale, and the Gwangju Biennale Foundation is planning a major expansion of the Gwangju Biennale Pavilion coinciding with this milestone year.
Next year’s Gwangju Biennale Pavilion will take place across Gwangju Metropolitan City, expecting participation from approximately thirty countries.
Countries from Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam have confirmed their involvement, reaffirming Gwangju’s position as Asia’s cultural hub city. A wide range of nations from other regions, including Argentina, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Qatar, and Sweden have also confirmed participation.
Participating Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members in particular will present unique contemporary art from the region at the Asia Culture Center (ACC) and nearby venues.
