제13회 광주비엔날레 1월 공공프로그램과 출판물 소식
  *영문 콘텐츠는 국문 버전의 하단에서 확인하실 수 있습니다. 이번 1월 말을 끝으로 저희 온라인 공공 프로그램 시리즈 ‘GB 토크 | 수면으로 떠오르기: 연대의 미래를 실천하기’가 막을 내립니다. 두 차례의 마지막 프로그램은 농민들의 항거와 농촌의 현지 상황을 전하고 기록하는 보도 네트워크에 중점을 둔 독립 저널리즘에 관한 워크숍, 그리고 삶의 한 양식으로서 상처를 주지 않고 다치지 않기 위한 유일한 제안으로 금욕의 윤리를 주창하는 키노트로 구성됩니다. 1월 28일 목요일 오후 5~7시(중앙유럽 표준시 오전 9~11시)에는 언론인 P. 사이나스(P. Sainath)가 주최하는 워크숍을 진행합니다. 본 프로그램 “농민의 항거에서 공동체 아카이브까지”는 인도의 농촌에서 만들어지는 이야기와 기록을 보도하고 아카이빙하는 것의 중요성을 강조하고, 권위주의와 검열이 늘어나는 시국에서 주류 미디어 채널에 맞서는 대항 서사를 지지하고 시민의 권리를 확대하고자 합니다. 리포터이자 ‘피플스 아카이브 오브 루랄 인디아’ 설립자로서 P. 사이나스가 축적한 경험은 인도에서 국가 프로파간다와 미디어 지배층의 구조적 편견에 맞서는 독립 언론인의 중추적 역할을 보여주는 대표적인 사례입니다. 본 워크숍은 선착순 50명으로 참여가 제한됩니다. 워크숍 신청은 이메일 publicprogram@gwangjubiennale.org으로 부탁드립니다. 1월 30일 토요일 오후 7시~8시 30분(중앙유럽 표준시 오전 11시~오후 12시 30분)에는 문학 및 문화 이론가 릴라 간디(Leela Gandhi)가 이번 공공 프로그램을 마무리 짓는 키노트를 발표할 예정입니다. 그녀의 강연 “다치지 않을 능력에 관해”는 피난처와 성역을 주고받으며 상처를 피할 수 있는 능력에 대해 논합니다. 간디는 다치지 않을 능력의 이상을 발전시키는 사유의 실천과 형식이 (최소한의 차원에서는 손상시킬 권리로 해석되는) 제국에 대한 비판에 관여한다고 주장합니다. 또한 이러한 실천과 형식이 (최소한의 차원에서는 다치게 만드는 생활과 공동체의 조건에서 벗어날 권리로 해석되는) 포기에 대한 비판도 제공한다고 역설합니다. 본 프로그램은 이 링크(Zoom Webinar ID: 958 7624 8641)의 줌 웹사이트 혹은 광주비엔날레재단 페이스북 페이지에서 참여하실 수 있습니다. 출판물 더불어 이번 비엔날레의 출판 프로젝트 중 하나인 『뼈보다 단단한(Stronger than Bone)』의 출간 소식을 전합니다. 질 윈더(Jill Winder)가 공동 편집하고 베를린의 아카이브 북스(Archive Books)가 공동 발행하는 본 출판물에는 페미니즘 정치학 및 현실 개입의 다채로운 양상을 전면에 제시하는 페미니스트와 논바이너리(non-binary) 리더들을 초청해, 이들의 집단 지성, 직감적 욕망, 체화된 강인함 등에 관한 글들이 수록돼 있습니다. 세계 각지의 지성 연대가 참여한 이 출판물의 기고자는 글로리아 안잘두아(Gloria Anzaldúa), 김성례, 김혜순, 로렐 켄달(Laurel Kendall), 마야 인디라 가네쉬(Maya Indira Ganesh), 세실리아 비쿠냐(Cecilia Vicuña), 소라야 머레이(Soraya Murray), 에바-크리스티나 할린(Eeva-Kristiina Harlin)과 오우티 피에스키(Čiske-Jovsset Biret Hánsa Outi/Outi Pieski), 오드리 로드(Audre Lorde), 옥사나 티모피바(Oxana Timofeeva), 이혜진(S. Heijin Lee), 자밀라 리바이로(Djamila Ribeiro), 전희경(Wendy Hui Kyong Chun)과 사라 프리들랜드(Sarah Friedland), 타마라 & 브리기타 이사벨라(Tamarra and Brigitta Isabella), 타샤니 도시(Tishani Doshi), 쿠이쉴레 차란 & 에샤 필레이(Quishile Charan & Esha Pillay), 크리스 아바니(Chris Abani)입니다. 『뼈보다 단단한』은 현재 코로나19 팬데믹의 그림자 아래 전 세계가 가장 취약해진 시점에 세상에 나왔습니다. 역사적으로 중요한 글, 시 문학, 새로운 기고문 등 미술가, 이론가, 철학자, 저술가가 써내려 간 콘텐츠들은 앞길을 제시할 지도자 없이 기이한 지성적, 기술적, 정치적, 예술적, 사회적 소용돌이 속에 휘말린 이 세상 속에서 젠더 정치학이 어떻게 재편성될 수 있을지 함께 고민하고 있습니다. 오는 2월 열리는 '오프닝 포럼(Opening Forum)'은 온라인 및 현장 프로그램으로 진행될 예정입니다. 비엔날레 전시를 개괄하는 주제들을 한데 엮어 ‘확장된 마음(extended mind)’의 너비를 가늠해 보고 육체적, 기술적, 정신적 지성 간에 부여된 구조적 경계를 허무는 데 도전합니다. 본 프로그램에는 철학자, 체제 사상가, 연구자 등을 초청해 코스모테크닉스(cosmotechnics), 신경과학, 정보 기술, 여러 치유 방법론, 샤머니즘 등에 관해 논의합니다. 제13회 광주비엔날레 공동예술감독 데프네 아야스(Defne Ayas), 나타샤 진발라(Natasha Ginwala) Dear all, Join us at the end of this month, as we conclude our online public forum series GB Talks | Rising to the Surface: Practicing Solidarity Futures with a workshop about independent journalism focusing on agrarian resistance and networks of rural reportage and a keynote addressing an ethics of renunciation toward a unique proposal for non-injuriousness as a way of life. On Thursday, January 28th, at 9–11am CET / 5–7pm KST, we will host a workshop by journalist P. Sainath. “From Farmers’ Protests to Communal Archives” will highlight the importance of reporting and archiving stories and records from rural India, promoting counter-narratives to mainstream media channels and broadening the civic mandate in times of rising authoritarianism and censorship. Sainath’s experience as a reporter and founder of the People’s Archive of Rural India is paradigmatic of the pivotal role of independent journalists to counter state propaganda and the structural biases of the media establishment. The workshop is limited to 50 people on a first come first served basis. Please email publicprogram@gwangjubiennale.org to register. On Saturday, January 30th, at 11am–12.30pm CET / 7–8.30pm KST, literary and cultural theorist Leela Gandhi will present a concluding keynote to our series. In her talk “On Uninjurability,” she will discuss the ability to give and receive refuge and sanctuary and safeguard from injury. Gandhi claims that practices and forms of thinking that advance uninjurability ideals engage in a critique of empire (minimally construed as the right to harm). They also offer a critique of renunciation (minimally construed as the right to exit injurious conditions of life and community). Publication We are also thrilled to share the release of our publication Stronger than Bone. Co-edited with Jill Winder and co-published with Archive Books, Berlin, this reader draws upon the embodied strength, intuitive desires, and collective wisdom of feminists and non-binary protagonists to foreground the manifold dimensions of feminist politics and commitments. It features contributions by thinkers and allies across generations, including Chris Abani, Gloria Anzaldúa, Wendy Hui Kyong Chun & Sarah Friedland, Tishani Doshi, Maya Indira Ganesh, Eeva-Kristiina Harlin & Čiske-Jovsset Biret Hánsa Outi/Outi Pieski, Laurel Kendall, Kim Hyesoon, Kim Seongnae, S. Heijin Lee, Audre Lorde, Soraya Murray, Esha Pillay & Quishile Charan, Djamila Ribeiro, Tamarra & Brigitta Isabella, Oxana Timofeeva, and Cecilia Vicuña. Stronger than Bone arrives into the world at a moment of heightened fragility, under the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic. In key historical texts, poetry, and new commissions, a range of artists, theorists, philosophers, and writers grapple with how gender politics might be reconfigured in a world undergoing an interregnum of extraordinary intellectual, technological, political, artistic, and social ferment. Stay tuned for the online and onsite programs as part of the Opening Forum in February, which interweave our exhibition’s generative topics, examining the spectrum of the extended mind and challenging the structural divisions imposed upon corporeal, technological, and spiritual intelligence. This program invites philosophers, system thinkers, and researchers to discuss cosmotechnics, neuroscience and data technology, healing practices, and shamanism.
